Tata Harrier EV Gets Dolby Atmos with JBL Black Audio
By Vivek Ranva | Updated: July 10, 2025
In a significant enhancement to its premium EV lineup, Tata Motors has announced the integration of Dolby Atmos in the Tata Harrier EV, powered by a 10-speaker Harman JBL Black audio system. This update positions the Harrier EV as one of the few electric SUVs in India offering a spatial audio experience, catering to the growing demand for high-end in-car entertainment features.
Dolby Atmos Now in Tata Harrier EV
Tata Motors has announced that Dolby Atmos will soon be available on the Tata Harrier EV, enabled through its built-in Arcade.ev app store, as part of a broader partnership with Dolby Laboratories. The feature will support popular audio apps like Gaana and Audible, enhancing media consumption on the go.
According to the company, the audio experience has been optimized for the vehicle’s cabin layout, speaker positioning, and acoustics. The system is expected to deliver studio-grade sound quality—an upgrade aimed at tech-forward, premium EV buyers.
JBL Black 10-Speaker System: What’s Inside
The Harrier EV features a Harman-engineered JBL Black audio system, comprising a premium 10-speaker setup designed to deliver immersive, high-fidelity sound tailored for EV cabins.
- Four 6.5-inch full-range speakers
- Four high-frequency tweeters
- A dedicated centre-channel speaker on the dashboard
- Two high-fidelity midrange speakers
- A subwoofer in the rear boot section
All powered by an 8-channel amplifier, the system also features JBL audio modes, allowing users to customise the sound output based on content or preference.
Positioning Against Rivals
While this move strengthens Tata’s offering in the premium EV segment, it also places the Harrier EV in direct competition with Mahindra’s BE and XUV.e series, which also support Dolby Atmos, introduced in December 2024.
Industry experts see this as part of a broader trend where automakers are focusing on experiential upgrades—especially in electric vehicles—to differentiate offerings beyond battery range and charging speed.
